This month, Deacon and Jones (D&J) has been appointed as project manager at the famous Groucho Club, Dean Street in Soho, London, to oversee the extension and refurbishment works that will be undertaken later this year. The club currently has three bars, a brasserie, and a formal dining room. The Groucho’s refurbishment includes increasing the number of bedrooms available on the upper floors and the refurbishment of the function and meeting rooms in the rest of the building. Deacon and Jones’ project management team will work on the scheme for sixteen months. Planning permission for the project is expected in summer 2007. The club will remain operational during the entire period of works which aims to start on site in January 2008. Richard Bussey, partner at Deacon and Jones commented: "We are thrilled to be involved with such a prestigious client and look forward to ensuring that the planned works go smoothely over the next few months. This private members’ club is at the top-end of the scale in London, famous for its clientele from the creative fields of the media and arts.” The club’s name was inspired by one of Groucho Marx's quips; "I don't want to join a club that will accept me as a member". For Deacon and Jones, it is more than pleased to be a new member of the Groucho team. Click on the thumbnails below for larger images: Photography: ©The Groucho Club
